Georgia Dentist Who Treats Patients with Asperger’s
Finding a Georgia dentist who treats patients with Asperger’s can be a challenge. Asperger’s is an autism spectrum disorder that causes patients to have difficulties with social interaction. Symptoms of Asperger’s include poor communication skills, obsessive or repetitive routines and physical clumsiness.
For many patients with Asperger’s, it is difficult or even impossible to be treated in a traditional dental office. For these patients, treatment in a traditional dental office setting may cause anxiety and aggravate symptoms.
Dr. David Kurtzman has worked hard to create a practice that provides safe, effective, pain-free care for patients with Asperger’s. Our office is specially equipped to accommodate special care patients, however, it is safer to treat some patients with Asperger’s in a hospital setting. For these patients, Dr. Kurtzman provides dental treatment, including complex dental work, in specially equipped operating rooms at Wellstar Windy Hill and Kennestone Hospitals under general anesthesia.
We offer the high quality comprehensive dental care previously available in a dental office only to able bodied and minded inviduals to “Special Needs” clients and their families in the safety and security of the hospital operating room. Our care extends from the oral care and dental care structure of the families and caregivers.
Compassionate Dental Care & Asperger’s
Dr. Kurtzman provides Atlanta dental care for Asperger’s patients. In the hospital setting, patients with Asperger’s are either sedated or placed under general anesthesia by a trained anesthesiologist and monitored during the entire time they are receiving treatment. This enables Dr. Kurtzman to provide effective, pain-free care while at the same time ensuring patients’ safety.
Dr. Kurtzman gladly accepts Asperger’s patients referred from other dental practices. In fact, patients with Asperger’s and other developmental disabilities travel as far as South Georgia, Alabama and Tennessee to see Dr. Kurtzman. Many dentists simply do not have the time, resources or experience needed to effectively treat Asperger’s patients. Referring these patients to Dr. Kurtzman ensures they get the special care they need and can free up other dentists’ time to treat the patients they serve best. Once patients are treated by Dr. Kurtzman, they are sent back to their referring office for recall and recare.
If you, a loved one, or a patient in your practice has Asperger’s Syndrome and is in need of dental treatment, please contact our Dentists Who Treats Patients with Asperger’s at David Kurtzman, DDS to schedule an appointment. We look forward to working with you.
